Flushing and Replacing Your Brake FluidÂ
The brakes on your Ford vehicle are vital for driving comfort, peace of mind, and passenger safety. When a driver pushes the brake pedal, they need to know that their brakes will function as expected to slow down and stop.
When you push the brake pedal, the input pressure is amplified exponentially by the master cylinder and that energy is sent via hydraulic brake fluid through the system where the brake pads are pressed against the rotor disc. The powerful pressing action between the brake pads and rotors creates the resistance sufficient to stop.  Â
Indicators of Bad Brake Fluid
Brake fluid is a notorious absorber of water that wreaks havoc if it gets inside the brake lines where it will boil, compress, and will not allow the efficient transfer of stopping power through the brake fluid. When brake fluid loses integrity, you can expect to experience these indicators of bad brake fluid:
- The brake pedal has a softer or mushy feel
- Harder to stop or vehicle requires a greater distance to stop
- Dirty, discolored, or contaminated fluid
- Fluid found low and requires topping off
- Brake system (ABS) dashboard warning light

Service begins at our Ford service department with a certified technician, genuine Ford OEM brake fluid, and a certified service protocol. The qualified technician will remove the old brake fluid, provide an inspection of the comprehensive braking system, and if in excellent condition to support the new fluid, installs the fresh Ford OEM brake fluid. Once the brakes and fluid are at factory specifications, we conclude service with a complimentary multi-point vehicle inspection including all major vehicular systems and components. Â
